Where to dude ?
Heaven and Earth endure eternally,
Mountains and streams never change;
Plants know their natural course,
They wither and flourish in frost and dew,
Man should be above them in intelligence,
But he alone is unlike them:
A while ago he was living,
Now he is gone and will never return.
No one ever awakes from the dead;
Friends and relatives will not long remember him,
Looking at the things he used in his life,
Our eyes fill with tears.
I have no mortal magic to overcome death:
Certainly death will overtake me.
I hope you will take my advice.
Whenever you have a chance, never refuse a drink
These words were written by the Chinese poet Tao Yuan-Ming who lived from about 372 AD to 427 AD
Pavlovich the Elder with the future Merchant Seaman
If you don' have a philosophy, I will lend you mine:
Life has a limit, but knowledge is without limit.
For the limited to pursue the unlimited is futile.
To know this and still pursue knowledge is even more futile.
In doing good, avoid fame.
In doing evil, avoid punishment.
Thus, by pursuing the middle way, you may preserve your body,
fulfill your life, look after your parents,
and live out your years.
